 Comments

Comment: Meridionale Staples, 2014 appears to be a junior synonym of Pallenella Schimkewitsch, 1909. That genus was specifically erected as a monotypic genus for Pallene laevis Hoek, 1881 (Staples 2014: 339, 346, 348, and see https://biodiversitylibrary.org/page/30144038 ), thus making that the type species by monotypy (ICZN Art. 68.3). Staples there erected a new genus, Meridionale Staples, 2014 and included Meridionale laevis (Hoek, 1881) as a valid species. Pallenella Schimkewitsch, 1909 was a senior and available name, and should take priority as the valid name for the genus. Workers have not done this, though
