  Comment: Hyperoglyphe umhlangae (Smith, 1949) was described in the genus Palinurichthys by Smith who noted it is "...probably only juveniles of some unknown adult..." Smith-Vaniz and Walsh in their 2019 article list the juvenile specimen as a syntype of Trachinotus botla (Shaw, 1803), thus a junior synonym
