  Comment: Martin & Davis (2001) note: "Tshudy and Babcock (1997) examined fossil and extant clawed lobsters and indicated that the family Thaumastochelidae, at least as used previously, may be paraphyletic. We have not taken the extra step of deleting this family (which would result in the former thaumastochelids being treated as Nephropidae), as there was also strong support in their analysis for grouping at least some thaumastochelid genera together (Tshudy and Babcock, 1997: fig. 1)."
