  Comment: Authorship for Ostrea permollis (in various generic combinations) has sometimes been given with the year 1841, but the basis for this has not been found. Instead, the name should be attributed to Sowerby in Reeve's "Conchologia Iconica" vol. XVIII, in the text accompanying "OSTR∆A. Plate X", which is dated January 1871, and which may be reviewed online at
