  Comment: The definition and the relationship of the two families Eupodiscaceae and Triceratiaceae requires further review, together with the classification of the ocellate and pseudocellate diatoms. It is considered the family Eupodiscaceae sensu Simonsen 1979 is roughly equivalent to the Triceratiaceae sensu Round et al. 1990 (Sims and Witkowski 2012, Ashworth et al. 2013)
