  Comment: The first available use of a family-group name based on Typloplana Ehrenberg 1831 appears to be by Luther (1904:148), who described a tribe 'Typhloplanida mihi' containing Typhloplana and several other genera (see ). According to the Principle of Coordination (ICZN Art. 36) the coordinate name based on the same genus is deemed to have been established simultaneously at all family-group ranks (from superfamily to subtribe)
