 Comments

Comment: Peters (1951, p. 72) list the species protonym as Sylviorthorhynchus Desmursii with the author Des Murs in Gay 1847. The correct spelling from Gay 1847 (p. 316) is Sylviorthorhynchus Desmurii. Per Dickinson and Gregory the text for 'Historia fisica y politica de Chile' was published after the plate (published in 1845) which has priority. The spelling on plate 3 matches the text, Sylviorthorhynchus Desmurii, with authorship of Gay (see https://www.biodiversitylibrary.org/page/27990704), therefore the full name is Sylviorthorhynchus desmurii Gay, 1845. See Dickinson and Gregory (2012, pp. 48-49) for more details
