  Comment: According to Eschmeyer (online Catalog of Fishes, 2005) (personal communication, 2005), in Swainson, 1839, the taxon is given as "Salmostoma on p. 184, changed to Salmophasia on p. 284. [...] Jordan 1919:202 [ref. 2410] apparently is first reviser, selecting Salmophasia." However, Salmostoma enjoys prevailing usage, so ITIS follows most authors by treating Salmostoma as the valid name
