 Comments

Comment: Bello & de Zio Grimaldi (1999 "1998") give a phylogenetic taxonomy that treats Mesostygarctus as a subgenus of Pseudostygarctus, though they also give "revised, traditional definitions" of the examined taxa and there retain Mesostygarctus as a valid genus, with type species M. intermedius Renaud-Mornant, 1979. Guidetti and Bertolani (2005) list this species as Pseudostygarctus intermedius (Renaud-Mornant, 1979) "Amended by Bello & de Zio Grimaldi 1998"
