  Comment: Authorship of Thamnocephalidae is variously cited. Martin & Davis (2001) use Simon 1886, whereas Brtek & Mura (2000) use Packard 1883. Packard (1883:352) published the new subfamily name Thamnocephalinae, which by the Principle of Coordination (ICZN Art, 36.1) established the name (with appropriate suffixes) at all family-group ranks (from superfamily to subtribe) with Packard 1883 as author
