 Comments

Comment: Vieillot's Histoire naturelle des oiseaux de l'Amérique was issued in 22 livraisons, and the dates of the livraisons (between the years of 1807 and possibly through 1809) have not been reliably established. See Dickinson et al. 2011 pp. 157-158 for more information
Authorship was attributed to Vieillot, 1808 (https://www.biodiversitylibrary.org/page/47004207) in 1979 by Peters (https://www.biodiversitylibrary.org/page/14501003), but this overlooked Sherborn's 1930 observation (https://www.biodiversitylibrary.org/page/36287561) that F. M. Daudin made the name available in the Didot edition of Buffon's Histoire Naturelle in 1802 (dated 1799) in the Tableaux section on page 227 (https://www.biodiversitylibrary.org/page/42033477). The correct taxon author is Daudin, 1802. For dating of the Tableaux in the Didot edition of Buffon see Richmond, 1899 (https://www.biodiversitylibrary.org/page/15935570)
