  Comment: According to Dr. Banks (personal communication, July 2002), "B[aeolophus] griseus was replaced by B. ridgwayi because it was preoccupied in Parus, when both were in that genus. Thus, it is a synonym of ridgwayi but not available under the rules of homonymy" (specifically, Art. 59.3 of the ICZN, 4th ed., 1999)
